We listen carefully to the client’s requirements, discuss initial ideas and formulate an outline brief for the project.
We look closely at the site and its context to understand opportunities and constraints to the project, such views, solar orientation, planning policy and a host of other considerations to set the project on the right path from the outset.
We then design a concept which involves setting out parameters for form, massing and materiality that gives architectural coherence throughout a scheme. Using this methodology the development of a design can proceed while a strong overall approach remains intact.
We aim to exploit the elements that natural environment offers– views, sun, shade, shelter from the wind and rain.
We prefer clean forms and natural materials that will give buildings a timeless feel.
We have developed close working relationships with other professionals. Planning consultants, M&E consultants, structural engineers, quantity surveyors and ecology experts.
We also have a long track record of successful planning applications and negotiations, working closely with the local authority planning team to gain officer support at the pre application stage.
Driving the team forward to a successful planning application is our role.

Renovating buildings and adding to them is a challenge .
We often apply this description to period properties that are of such quality that make renovation worthwhile.
Such properties can often have a listed building status which requires close consultation with the local conservation officer and the preparation of a ‘justification statement’ to accompany any planning application.
We try to stay true to the period features of a building that hold architectural merit and strip away lower quality additions where possible.
Careful consideration is required when trying to marry modern services and thermal upgrades to the existing building fabric.
Commercial projects range from multi-unit housing developments, sports and leisure, cafes, bars and master planning projects.

Interior design is something we usually undertake as part of an overall project to preserve a consistent 'look & feel' throughout.
More specific design items such as kitchens and staircases are often requested specifically to 'fit' with the rest of the architecture.
We prefer to design fairly neutral spaces with 'accents' of rich, warm natural material and single focal features.
Open plan living spaces bathed in natural light that connect with courtyard gardens and landscape views are qualities we try and bring to our projects large & small.
